My 2026 So Far
Happy (very belated) New Year everyone!
As I’m writing this I can’t believe it hasn’t even been 4 weeks yet since New Year’s. January always feels like a slow month, I swear this time around it feels like it’s gone by especially slowly.
But maybe that could have to do with the kind of chaotic start I’ve had to 2026 so far.
These past few weeks I’ve been in and out of the doctor’s, having scans done and waiting with baited breath for the results, all thanks to my trip to hospital on Christmas Eve with severe abdominal pain. I won’t go into too much detail about it all, but my last results at least showed that it’s nothing as serious as I had been worrying about.
On top of that, I’ve also been preparing to return to studying this year. It’s been a few years since I did my last course, so I’m both excited and a little nervous to go back.
And, of course, I’m still writing. Right now I’m working on the zero draft for a story I’m for now calling Magical Animal Sanctuary WIP. Which is a cosy fantasy about an ex-soldier fleeing the brutal empire she was raised in and ending up at an animal sanctuary full of mythical creatures and falling in love with the woman who owns it.
I’ve also been doing some more preparation for the release of Of Bards and Quests and Falling In Love, which I’m aiming to publish on the 8th of September, with ARC applications to open mid-year. And since this is Of Bards’ release year, how about I share a snippet?
Don’t forget to add Of Bards and Quests and Falling In Love to your Goodreads TBRs!
I’m also super excited to start work with Jan Falk on the cover in a couple more months.
Next month I’ll also be attending Book Fair Australia in Melbourne on the 21st and 22nd, selling copies of my books, Of Knights and Books and Falling In Love and A Ballad for Slayers & Monsters. I had a blast when I did Book Fair Aus in Sydney back in 2023. Here’s hoping for another great experience, and if you’re going to be there, feel free to stop by my table and say hi!
That’s it for now, hope you all keep safe, healthy and happy, and never forget these words by our dear Samwise Gamgee:
